The Number One Reason People Are Unhappy With Their Spaces

If you’ve been with me for a bit and worked through my free design guide in the past, you may have figured out the answer to this title already (if you haven't, click here to download the guide).

The #1 reason I believe most people are unhappy with their spaces is that they haven’t taken the time to TRULY understand what they need from said space, not just what they think they want it to look like.

For example—you might LOVE the look of a bright, airy “pinterest-perfect” living room with a white linen sofa and light colored rug (a quick pinterest search for "bright airy living room" will bring up rooms like the breezy ones below) BUT, have you thought about the fact that you have two little ones and a puppy at home?

If that describes your situation, these sofas 👆👆👆, while beautiful, will drive you CRAZY because it will be impossible to keep them clean—it's 100% impractical for your current stage of life.

The eight steps I lay out in the guide are essentially a needs-inventory for your space, and it help's you avoid pitfalls like the one I just mentioned.

Ask yourself these questions about your space:

  • What currently is NOT working in your space? What IS working?

  • How do you use it now? How do you hope to use it?

  • How do you currently feel in it? And how do you want to feel in it?

  • What do you NEED from your space?

These questions help you think about creating a space that will work WITH your unique way of living, rather than against it.

And how important is that!? (VERY.)

Creating a beautiful space is easy—it’s creating a space that’s both beautiful AND functional for your lifestyle that really makes an impact.
